General Commissions 

I have done many commissions over the years. Below are some of them. If you've ever wanted to capture
something specific in a  painting, I'd love to talk to you about it. There's nothing like a personal
​painting ~ it's something very special to enjoy for years to come.

Still Standing 
2026
Darren originally contacted me to buy one of my books as a present for his partner, Tracy. They had dated many years ago, and lost touch, but they eventually found their way back into each other's arms. Darren told me that they've always had a shared love of my work. Instead of the book, he decided to gift Tracy with an original. She chose to have herself depicted in one of her favorite places, The Lone Cypress. It is a beautiful and emotional piece.  

The Barrow Family 
2025
Ed Barrow actually found me through Etsy because he loved my painting of Catalina Island.  He didn't even know I did commissions but asked anyways! It was incredibly fortuitous for both of us. He asked me to create a 36x40 painting of his family's summer home in Ocean City, Maryland. He wanted the painting to be from his deck and to include the family's boat, dog, and their three children. We worked closely together to plan out the scene. He gave it to his wife for Christmas, and she was thrilled!

Patricia's Day
2025
Patricia Savage contacted me in the summer, asking for a 20x25 portrait of her niece and nephew playing at her wedding venue. I was so excited as I regularly frequented her Altadena cafe, Patticakes, for their incredible baked goods. She has since moved out of California, but I will never forget the fresh flowers on the delicious birthday cakes I would order for all my friend's birthdays. It turns out that she was a fan of my work all along!

A New Beginning
2025
The fires that ravaged Los Angeles in winter 2025 were terrifying to all residents, but to some, they were a cause of personal tragedy. In January, I was contacted by Sarah  to let me know that her parents lost their home in the Eaton Fire. She said that her parents had been fans of my work as long as she could remember, and she and her siblings wanted to commission a painting of the gardens they lost.  This was an incredibly emotional painting and I am so grateful that I got to give the family a little brightness in such a difficult time. This painting will hang in their home when they re-build!

Abby
2019
A lovely woman from Florida, Debbie, contacted me about painting her granddaughter. After sending me several photos, we both agreed this was the best pose. I placed her darling granddaughter at the seashore, as Debbie requested. 
Following is her grandson, born a couple of years later. 
Debbie told me she purchased both frames at the same time: the one for this portrait, and the one that would remain stored away, until her grandson's portrait was painted. 

Beach Boy
2021
Above is this sweet toddler's older sister. His portrait was painted a few years after hers, when he got a little older. 
When I painted this portrait, I made it to be hung to the right of hers, so it would look like they were there at the ocean together. They live in Florida some of the time, so it would be natural that they would spend a lot of time at the shore. Again, after mom, Debbie, and I chose the photo I worked from, I placed this little guy at the beach. It was not where either child was photographed, but I loved creating the paintings at the ocean.

Lydia
2022
I love this portrait of sweet Lydia. Her daddy did some construction work at my home and when he found out I was an artist, and saw some of my work, he commissioned this painting of his daughter. I changed the background from the photo I worked from, and made Lydia on a white blanket with white embroidered pillows, and envisioned the family having a picnic there. I almost always develop stories in my mind about the painting I'm creating.

Lydia And Mom
2023
Awhile after I painted the portrait of Lydia, her dad came to me with a photo and wanted me to paint this scene. He said to me, "You see this? This is the picture I see every morning." What you see is exactly what was in the room, and in the bed. Obviously his wife and daughter are very precious to him. I told him he is a true romantic!

2023
A couple commissioned me to paint their beautiful parrots. They wanted them put into a painting I'd done called "Garden Window". I worked to make the parrots the focal point of the piece and I invented the double perch that the parrots are on.
I love the colors in this painting, as well as the subjects and the florals all around them.
Overall, it's a really happy image, and I enjoyed creating it.
My customers were very happy with the painting!

2023
This family appreciated my art, and had this photo taken because they wanted me to paint them this way. I think maybe because I've painted several women on the beach from the back. The images are more interesting in the sense that viewers can imagine who the women are in the paintings. In this case I think it makes a really fun family picture!

2013
Bambi
A very kind man contacted me and wanted me to paint this image for his wife, for her birthday. He brought me a photo of the horse, Bambi, with their daughter. Bambi had gone on to "greener pastures", and this painting was a tribute to their beloved horse.
I created the entire environment his daughter and Bambi are in. I like to think that this is where Bambi is now: in horse heaven, where the grass is always green and tasty and the cool breeze flows in from the ocean beyond.

I painted this darling family several years ago. The mother game me a photo of her children, and told me the kind of environment she wanted them in. So I put them in this lush green garden, with hydrangeas, peonies, roses and daisies around them. It's fun to create a setting for people!
I really like how the children are all connected to each other. I'll bet they all got along well together!

2021
Laurie and Her Sister
Laurie contacted me and sent me this photo of her and her sister. The photo is pretty much black and white. She wanted this painting done of them both,. and I love the way it turned out. Thankfully, Laurie was very happy with the painting. It's a fairy simple piece, but I feel emotion in it. The paintings I love the most, whether they're mine, or other artist's, is when I can "feel them". They do something to me emotionally.
This one does that for me.

2014
Amy and Anthony -The Wedding
Through a friend of mine, I met a woman who lives in La Canada, CA, and I ended up painting her beautiful, historical home. I also painted portraits of two of her dogs. When her daughter got married, they had their wedding reception in her beautiful front yard. This photo was taken then, and she had me create this painting of the newlyweds.

Laguna Lifeguard Stand
The Laguna Lifeguard Stand is such a well known structure on the shore at Laguna Beach, CA. 
One of my customers wanted a painting of it, and I really like the painting. Their brown labrador is in the piece, and the family is down by the umbrella.

2014
Portrait Of Gaby
I painted this portrait for Gaby's parents many years ago. Last time I saw Gaby she  was a beautiful young woman getting ready for medical school.
The photograph I worked from showed a serious little girl in her lovely white dress. 
I placed her in a lush garden of hollyhocks, roses and delphiniums, along with her pet rabbit at her feet.
I always wonder what Gaby's thinking, but I think this makes a very striking and unusual portrait.

2017
Cindy's Grandchildren
Cindy came to me with a request that I paint her grandchildren. She gave me this photo of them, but I placed them in this garden. You can see that this is sort of my theme, to place children in beautiful gardens. Those who appreciate my art seem to like it too, and they usually request it., which is fine with me, since I love creating colorful gardens.

2008
The Bloch Family Home
I met the Bloch twins at an art show, and they commissioned me to paint their home. This is the family home they grew up in, and they still live there. It's a lovely home, and they asked me to paint in the sign . 
Since that painting, I've done two more for them. 
The twins are delightful, and I've been invited to their home for dinner, where we enjoyed delightful conversation and Chandon champagne - their favorite!

The Bloch Twins Backyard
The twins commissioned me to paint their backyard. It's quite a large yard, with lush foliage and flowers everywhere, and a little path that feels like the secret garden. They have lots of personal things hidden among the foliage and flowers. A very personal space that's quite inviting!

The Twins Mother's Wedding Dress
These women were quite close with their parents, and when their mother passed, they asked that I paint her wedding dress. The dress is beautiful - I love the over dress of lace. The veil, bouquet, and shoes were their mother's as well. I'll bet she was a beautiful bride!

Wedding Dress Interior
Here's an example of how a painting can change, depending on what my customer wants. I thought the twins wanted me to paint their mother's dress in a pretty interior, but when I gave them this painting, it wasn't what they wanted.  They wanted just the dress, veil, bouquet, and shoes of their mother's, with the plain background. That's what made them happy. 
I'd taken a good picture of the this version of the painting because I just think it's really pretty and soft.

Commissioned Wedding Dresses
These are samples of sweet little paintings I've done for brides of their wedding dresses. Some have been given as gifts, and some brides have had me do them for themselves.
They are lovely little keepsakes to enjoy forever. They become family heirlooms.
As you can see, I paint the dress, the bouquet, and any other accessories they'd like in the painting;  their shoes, veil, jewelry, etc.
A unique way to commemorate your most special day!

My Smallest Commission
A young woman contacted me who liked my miniature framed print and paintings, and asked me if I could paint her house and her little dog in miniature. 
This is the finished piece, and she was thrilled with it.
I have always loved miniatures, and this was a very fun commission to paint.
The frame measures 4 1/8"x 3 3/8".

Historic Home, La Canada, CA
I was asked by the owner of this beautiful home if I would paint it for their family. It is on the list of historic homes in La Canada, CA, in a really lovely neighborhood, lush with beautiful trees and gardens.
